01Who is responsible?
KiloMatik is a mileage tracking app provided by Mikaël Goedike in Québec, Canada. Mikaël Goedike is the person responsible for the protection of personal information for KiloMatik.
For privacy questions or requests, contact kilomatikapp@gmail.com.
This policy describes the current iOS test version and this website. It will be updated if features or data handling practices change.
02Information used by the app
When you grant the required permissions, the app may process:
- Precise location: GPS coordinates, dates and times, speed, heading, altitude and location accuracy to detect and record travel.
- Motion indicators: states such as driving, stationary, walking or cycling supplied by iOS. A vehicle audio connection signal may also assist detection.
- Trip details: distance, duration, departure and arrival locations and approximate addresses, trip name, business/personal classification and how recording started.
- Supporting information: departure or arrival weather when available, preferences and the detection diagnostic history.
No KiloMatik account is required. The app does not include advertising, cross-app tracking or advertising analytics tools.
03Why and when is it used?
This information is used to detect vehicle travel, calculate mileage, display trips, support classification and exports, and diagnose technical problems.
Automatic detection may use your location in the background, even while the app is not on screen. It depends on your choice to enable detection and your iOS permissions. Motion indicators help distinguish driving from walking or cycling.
Suggested categories are aids you can review. KiloMatik does not make eligibility decisions about you or determine whether a trip qualifies for a tax deduction.
04Where is information stored?
Trips, preferences and detection history are stored on your iPhone. The current test version does not enable CloudKit synchronization. Device backups you configure with Apple are separate from KiloMatik’s operation.
The following features may involve Apple services:
- Maps and addresses: coordinates or a geographic area are used by Apple’s mapping and geocoding services to display maps and identify places and addresses.
- Weather: when weather is requested, the coordinates needed for the request are sent to Apple WeatherKit.
- iPhone search: some trip details may be indexed in Spotlight so you can find them on the device.
- Technical diagnostics: the app receives iOS performance and diagnostic reports in local logs. KiloMatik does not add automatic transmission of these reports to its publisher.
Apple services are subject to Apple’s privacy policy. Processing and backups may occur outside Québec or Canada, depending on the services used.
05Sharing and exports
KiloMatik does not automatically send your trip history to a server operated by its publisher. We do not sell or rent your trips or use them for advertising.
You may choose to export and share files, including CSV and GPX. Depending on the format, a file may contain dates, times, places, distances, a classification or detailed coordinates. You choose the app or recipient. Shared copies are then subject to that recipient’s practices.
If you email us, we receive your email address and any information or attachments you choose to send. Access is limited to people who need it to handle your request. We may share this information with a provider needed to process your email or where required by law.
06Retention and deletion
Trips remain on your device for as long as you keep them. You can delete selected trips in the app. This also deletes their associated positions and requests removal from the device’s search index.
The detection history retains the latest 200 events. It includes technical information such as time, detection state, speed or location accuracy, without adding route coordinates to that history.
Deleting the app normally removes its local storage. Device backups, exported copies and emails you have already sent are not automatically deleted; manage those with Apple or the relevant recipient.
Support correspondence is kept as long as necessary to handle and follow up on the request, subject to applicable legal retention obligations, then deleted or anonymized.
07Your choices and rights
You can turn off automatic recording in KiloMatik or change location and motion permissions in iOS Settings. Withdrawing a permission may prevent some features from working, without deleting existing trips.
For personal information we hold about you, you may request access, correction, deletion or, where provided by law, a copy in an appropriate format. You may also send a privacy concern or complaint to kilomatikapp@gmail.com. We may verify your identity in a way proportionate to the request.
Trips stored only on your device are not accessible to the publisher. We can explain how to export or delete them, but cannot recover them remotely.
08Protecting information
We limit information requested for support to what is needed for the reported issue. The app relies on the iPhone’s storage, permission and protection mechanisms. Protect your device with a passcode and review files before sharing them.
Avoid sending a full trip history or personal addresses when they are not needed for support.
09Privacy on this website
This website’s code contains no advertising, added audience analytics or form requesting trip data. Contact buttons open your email app; no message is sent automatically.
The site is hosted using OpenAI Sites and Cloudflare infrastructure. These providers may process connection information such as IP address, browser and access time to serve and secure the site. The host’s access controls may also use their own cookies. Processing may occur outside Québec.
